[1]   A George BLEWETT was baptised at Plymouth 1May1593 son of Francis.  If this were the George of Madron, then this suggests a  connection with the BLEWETT family of Holcumb Rogus in Devon rather than with the BLEWETTs of Colan

 

[2]   Thomas was buried at St Leven in 1720, and his wife was buried in 1702.  Assuming the five children shown in the above tree were his, he would have been born somewhere around 1630/50.  But there were no BLEWETTs at St Levan in the 1641 Protestation Return or the 1664 Hearth Tax, which included all males over the age of 18. It can be assumed therefore that the parents of Thomas were not of St Levan, and he was probably not born there.  The only Thomas found so far who was born nearby c1640, is Thomas, son of George (& Jane) baptised 12 Jan 1640 at Madron.  There is no burial of this Thomas at Madron, and no other mention of him in the Madron registers.  George of Madron is listed in the 1641 return and is in fact the only Blewett mentioned in any of the 17C tax lists SW of Camborne.  The occurrence of the name Jane at St Levan is suggestive, since Jane was relatively uncommon in the 17C, so it seems possible that Thomas of St leven was the son of George of Madron. On the other hand, if this derivation were correct, the name George would be expected to occur in the St Levan tree. 

 

[3]    No evidence for this Thomas except that the name Thomas occurs in the next three generations; the widow Mary buried 1736 could not have been the wife of either of the John's who both lived later than 1736. The Thomas who married Sarah GARD in 1734 could have been born c1710, giving a reasonable birth date of around 1680-90 for his father, which makes him plausibly a son of Thomas & Elizabeth.
